Description

Reassignment of students to schools within the county have been approved by the administration or recommended by the Student Assignment Appeal Board in accordance with policies with the School Board.  They are presented for formal ratification.

AGREEMENTS/CONTRACTS

9. APPROVAL OF THE APPLICATION FOR DRIVER EDUCATION ENHANCEMENT FUNDS TO PROVIDE AFTER SCHOOL AND SUMMER PROGRAMS FOR THE 2015-2016 SCHOOL YEAR
Description
Pursuant to Section 318.1215, Florida Statutes and Section 122-35 of the Sarasota County Code, a $5.00 surcharge has been added to each civil traffic penalty in Sarasota County to enhance the funding of driver education programs in public and nonpublic schools located in Sarasota County.  The funds are restricted to the enhancement of driver education programs and are to be used for direct educational expenses only.  Only driver education programs that require a minimum of 30 percent of a student's time spent in "behind-the-wheel" training are eligible to receive the funds.

Recommendation
That the application for driver education enhancement funds to provide after school and summer programs for the 2015-2016 school year be approved.

10. APPROVAL OF AGREEMENTS BETWEEN SARASOTA FAMILY YMCA AND THE SCHOOL BOARD OF SARASOTA COUNTY, FLORIDA, TO PROVIDE CHILD CARE SERVICES
Description

The Sarasota County YMCA agrees to provide child care services in conformance with 65C-22, Florida Administrative Code, "Child Care Standards" at Ashton, Fruitville, Gocio, Oak Park, Southside, and Wilkinson.

11. APPROVAL OF THE CONTINUATION OF THE AGREEMENT FOR CONTRACTED SERVICES BETWEEN THE SARASOTA FAMILY YMCA, INC., SCHOOLHOUSE LINK AND THE SCHOOL BOARD OF SARASOTA COUNTY, FLORIDA, FOR TITLE I PART A FUNDING FOR THE SARASOTA HOMELESS SERVICES PROJECT
Description

This is a continuation of the Sarasota Family YMCA, Inc.,  Schoolhouse Link interagency agreement approved by the Board on July 20, 2010. The agreement provides for Title I funding for services for shelter tutoring, salary for case manager for unaccompanied and foster care youth, after school/summer enrichment activities, school uniform logo shirts, book fair funds, expected evaluations for special needs students, and homeless program staff state conference fees. 



Recommendation
That the School Board of Sarasota County, Florida, approve the contract for homeless children and youth services with the Sarasota Family YMCA, Inc., Schoolhouse Link program as presented in the interagency agreement.

12. APPROVAL OF AGREEMENT BETWEEN COMMUNITY REHAB ASSOCIATES, INC. AND THE SCHOOL BOARD OF SARASOTA COUNTY, FLORIDA FOR PHYSICAL/OCCUPATIONAL/SPEECH THERAPY SERVICES
Description
Physical, occupational and speech therapy are related services required by both Federal and State law for student with disabilities.  Contracts with agencies, such as Community Rehab Associates, Inc., assist in providing these necessary services, when direct hire staff are not available.

Recommendation
That the agreement between Community Rehab Associates, Inc. and the School Board of Sarasota County, Florida, be approved as presented.

13. APPROVAL OF AGREEMENT BETWEEN POSITIVE BEHAVIOR THERAPY, INC. AND THE SCHOOL BOARD OF SARASOTA COUNTY, FLORIDA
Description
Positive Behavior Therapy, Inc. is a company that provides intensive applied behavior support for students with disabilities when they present severe challenging behavior.  In addition, the Board Certified Behavior Analyst works in coaching and guiding teachers/staff on implementation of strategies and techniques to replace dangerous behaviors.

Recommendation
That the Agreement for behavioral intervention services between Positive Behavior Therapy, Inc. and the School Board of Sarasota County, Florida, in the amount not to exceed $75,000.00, be approved as presented.

14. APPROVAL OF AGREEMENT BETWEEN BEHAVIOR CARE, INC. AND THE SCHOOL BOARD OF SARASOTA COUNTY, FLORIDA
Description

15. APPROVAL OF AGREEMENT BETWEEN YAMAHA MOTOR CORPORATION, U.S.A. ("YMUS") AND THE SCHOOL BOARD OF SARASOTA COUNTY, FLORIDA
Description
The School Board offers to enrolled students an Outboard Engine Technician program and Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A. ("YMUS") has an Outboard Engine training program.  The School Board desires to provide to its students a learning experience through the application of knowledge and skills and Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A. ("YMUS") has agreed to offer their resources and equipment to School Board for such purposes.


Recommendation
That the Agreement between Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A. ("YMUS") and the School Board of Sarasota County, Florida be approved as presented.

16. APPROVAL OF THE CONTRACT BETWEEN THE UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA AND THE SCHOOL BOARD OF SARASOTA COUNTY, FLORDIA
Description
The University of Florida will subcontract with the School Board of Sarasota County, Florida for $65,835.00 to provide the Walk and Roll Sarasota program to encourage walking and biking to/from participating schools.

17. APPROVAL OF EARLY COLLEGE PROGRAM MANUAL & ARTICULATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE STATE COLLEGE OF FLORIDA, MANATEE-SARASOTA AND THE SCHOOL BOARD OF SARASOTA COUNTY, FLORIDA
Description
The purpose of this agreement is to provide accelerated learning mechanisms for qualified high school students on an individual basis to attend State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF).  The Florida Legislation has defined a variety of options intended to shorten the time necessary to complete the requirements of a high school diploma, postsecondary certificate or degree and broaden the scope of curricular options available for secondary students.

GRANTS

18. APPROVAL OF THE 21ST CENTURY CLASSROOMS INITIATIVE - NORTH COUNTY GRANT APPLICATION TO THE CHARLES AND MARGERY BARANCIK FOUNDATION
Description

NON-COMPETITIVE: Grant funds of $567,000 will fund 21 English Language Arts (ELA) and social studies classrooms in northern Sarasota County middle schools, creating 21st Century Classrooms.

19. APPROVAL OF THE SCIENCE EXPLORATION SERIES GRANT PROPOSAL TO THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF SARASOTA COUNTY FOR LAMARQUE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Description
COMPETITIVE: Grant funds of $2,444 will provide hands on science explorations for 5th grade Lamarque Elementary School students.

21. APPROVAL OF THE GETTING TO WORK GRANT PROPOSAL TO THE WALMART FOUNDATION FOR SUNCOAST TECHNICAL COLLEGE
Description
COMPETITIVE: Grant funds of $2,500 will improve the job development skills for students with disabilities in the Academy for Community Transition (ACT) program.

MATERIALS MANAGEMENT

22. APPROVAL TO AWARD BID #16-0045 FOR ART SUPPLIES - WAREHOUSE
Description
Bids to provide 'Art Supplies - Warehouse' were received from eleven vendors on July 8, 2015.  The bids of AFP Industries, Inc., Commercial Art Supply, DGS Educational Products, Highwater Clays of Florida, Inc., National Art and School Supplies, Pyramid School Products, S&S Worldwide, Smith Office & Computer Supply, and Standard Stationery Supply Company were the best low bids meeting the advertised specifications.  Reasons for not selecting the apparent low bid are included with the bid tabulation.  This bid is for a period of one year with the option to renew for two additional one-year periods.  Funds for these purchases are contained in the operating budgets of the schools.

Recommendation

That the bids of AFP Industries, Inc., Commercial Art Supply, DGS Educational Products, Highwater Clays of Florida, Inc., National Art and School Supplies, Pyramid School Products, S&S Worldwide, Smith Office & Computer Supply and Standard Stationery Supply Company to provide 'Art Supplies - Warehouse' in an amount not to exceed $250,000.00, be approved as presented.

CONSTRUCTION

23. APPROVAL OF CONTRACT FOR CONSULTANT SERVICES FOR PAINTING AND WEATHERPROOFING FOR A THREE (3)-YEAR PERIOD
Description
The scope shall include consultant services for all types of painting and weatherproofing for projects as assigned by The School Board of Sarasota County for a period of three (3)-years.  On 8/4/2015 (Item #24), the Board authorized negotiations with the top-ranked firm.  On 8/5/2015 the Director of Construction Services and one (1) member of the Professional Services Selection Committee (PSSC) met with a representative of Construction Moisture Consulting, Inc., and successfully negotiated a contract.  This contract has been approved by the School Board attorney and is available for review at the Construction Services Department. The estimated cost for these services for the three (3)-year period is $350,000.00.  Funds are available for these services through individual project accounts.

Recommendation
That the contract for consultant services for Painting and Weatherproofing for a three (3)-year period be approved as presented.

24. APPROVAL AND/OR RATIFICATION OF CONSTRUCTION SERVICES' CHANGE ORDER(S)
Description

The Construction Services' Change Orders are summarized on the enclosure for ease of review.  These change orders total an increase of $19,397.00 in gross contract dollars.

Description
